PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate World Food India 2017 Today at 10 AM, 200 Companies From 30 Countries to Grace the Event

New Delhi, November 3: In a bid to provide a platform to Indian farmers and manufacturers to showcase their products and explore partnerships with foreign companies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will inaugurate World Food India 2017, the biggest congregation of global investors and business leaders of major food companies. The three-day event will be organised by the Food Processing Industries Ministry in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).  (Also read: World Food Day: Twitterati Raise Awareness About ‘Food Security And Rural Development’) After the inauguration of the event at 10 AM  from Plenary Hall, Vigyan  Bhavan, PM Modi will visit the Food Street at India Gate lawns.

World Food India platform will strengthen India’s position as a global food factory and is a positive step towards making the country food secure. India is expected to attract an investment of $10 billion in food processing sector and generate one million jobs in the next three years,” an official statement said.

During the event, India would host over 2,000 participants and 200 companies from around 30 countries. Apart from representatives of 28 states, the event would be graced by 18 ministerial and business delegations, nearly 50 global CEOs along with CEOs of all leading domestic food processing companies.

The event will witness specially curated experiential platform by chef Sanjeev Kapoor which will showcase Indian and foreign cuisines using Indian ingredients, flavours and fragrances. A massive exhibition spread over 40,000 sq mt at the India Gate lawns where more than 800 global companies representing 22 countries and domestic companies will be exhibiting is expected to attract significant footfalls, the statement said.(Also Read: Andhra CM to attend ‘World Food India-2017’ conference)

Notably, it is for the first time that such platform is being provided where farmers to manufacturers to retailers will showcase their products and innovations, and explore business opportunities with foreign companies. The World Food India is a step aimed at creating India a Global Food Factory and Global Food Retail Market, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had said earlier.
